Over 1,37000 people were killed in road accidents in 2013 alone, that is more than the number of people killed in all our wars put together.
So What are steps should be taken to improve road safety in respective countries. As the number of vehicles on the road and traffic is advancing in giant strides, it is essential to follow certain road safety rules there are lots of rules to improve road safety but here we will only conclude some major rules which every individuals should follow on road to avoid road accidents. 
So here are some tips for drivers to improve road safety in country:-
  1. Do not drink and drive.
  2. Obey the speed limit.
  3. Do not use cell phones when driving.
  4. Keep your eyes on the road.
  5. Avoid Distractions.
  6. Follow the 3- to 4-second rule. 4-second rule The two-second rule (also known as the three-second rule for heavy vehicles) is a rule of thumb by which a driver may maintain a safe trailing distance. The driver should ideally stay at least two seconds behind any vehicle that is directly in front of other vehicleIs a basic principle for avoiding accident on the road, specifically rear ending. This rule is very important as it gives drivers a guideline that ensures that they are at an ideal distance from the driver that is in front of them.

Tips for pedestrians to improve road safety in country:-
  1. Establish eye contact with the driver to ensure you have been seen.
  2. Keep looking for oncoming traffic while crossing the road.
  3. Use footpaths and other walkways whenever possible.
  4. don't use earphones or headphone while crossing or walking on road.
  5. don't use phones or multimedia on road.
  6. Look right, left, and right again(RLR) before crossing a road.
  7. Avoid rushing on road.
So if you follow these major rules(not least) there will be much less chances of road accident but the life is unpredictable nobody knows what will happen next so sometime you need to use your own sense.
